2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Review, Specs and Prices

When Hyundai added hybrid engines to the latest Tucson, they made the SUV look even better than promised. The regular, non-hybrid model has a cool design, lots of features, and drives okay. But, it's a bit slow, which we jokingly call "sloggy" acceleration.

On the other hand, the stronger Tucson Hybrid and Tucson PHEV (plug-in hybrid) not only go faster but also use less fuel. The hybrid has 226 horsepower, and the PHEV has 261 horsepower, and both have 258 pound-feet of torque. This is a big improvement over the regular non-hybrid model.

The extra power makes driving any of the electric Tucsons more fun. What's cool is that they use a six-speed automatic transmission, so you don't feel the occasional jerkiness you might get with other hybrid cars that use continuously variable automatic transmissions. And if you're equipped right, Electrified Tucsons can tow up to 2000 pounds. They come with all-wheel drive, and when you're cruising on the highway, they're really quiet. Plus, the PHEV is one of the most affordable plug-in SUVs out there.
